Nope, our jute rugs in the kitchen, bedroom, and den never left any marks in our hardwoods after years of use, but we did have a rug pad under all but the one in the bedroom since the bed held it in place. We don’t have a rug pad going on in this bedroom either (since Ed holds the rug so it doesn’t wiggle). As for hardwood maintenance, we just use a hand vac to get dust bunnies around the perimeter of rooms every few days in about five mins, vacuum our area rugs and the floors about once a week or so, and then mop with watered down Mrs. Meyers and a oMop from Target every season or so. After 3+ years of that in the old house our floors still looked awesome. Hope it helps!
